Recently, I came across one of the most annoying things while doing the WP update. I was updating the WordPress on my local – xampp/windows based set up and due to execution time limit the update failed.
I was able to increase the time limit through simple htaccess based rules. For example:
php_value memory_limit 256M
php_value upload_max_filesize 64M
php_value post_max_size 64M
php_value max_execution_time 300
php_value max_input_time 1000
But after this, I ran into the issue –
“Another update is currently in progress. ” i.e. when I was trying to update the WordPress again.. I was getting this message again and again.
After going through certain references and WP based portals.. I found an easy fix for this:
Check the WP_OPTIONS table for the entry “core_updater.lock” or ”
core_updater” and delete that entry. Try again updating the WordPress.
To prevent multiple updates at once, wp applies this lock.
Hope this works for you!!
